WELCOME
Welcome! My name is Russell Robards, and I welcome you to my Feature Photos. At this site some photos will be showcased on the left column; and spotlighting favorite photographs, events, or "What Is It?" The photo will hopefully be of interest to you or will challenge your mind trying to figure out what it is.

The December 2017 feature photo celebrated the recent wedding of Savanna & Jesse; pray with us for God’s blessings on their marriage.




The November 2017 feature photo was the cover photo of the 2018 Calendar and is a Gulf Fritillary butterfly.





The October 2017 feature photo was entitled “Great Horned Owl “, which won an Honorable Mention award (theme Macro and Close-ups) in the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Quarterly Contest in September 2017.





The September 2017 feature photo was a photo of a Trout Lily wildflower honored to be on the cover of the Photographic Society of Chattanooga April 2017 Newsletter.





The August 2017 feature photo was a photo honored to be on the cover of the Children's Nutrition Program of Haiti 2017 Summer Newsletter.





The July 2017 feature photo was a photo entitled “Chattanooga Celebrates”.





The June 2017 feature photo was a photo of Angie and Jimmie celebrating their 5 year wedding anniversary which I had the honor of photographing; and God provided a very special bonus with a beautiful sunset.





The May 2017 feature photo was entitled “The Look of Wisdom“, which won an Honorable Mention award (theme Portraits) in the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Quarterly Contest in March 2017.





The April 2017 feature photo was entitled “Monitrice Holding Child“.  This photo was used as the cover of the Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti 2016 Annual Report recently released. The entire report (including more photos) can be viewed by clicking this LINK to the CNP website.






The March 2017 feature photo was entitled “Peacock Showing Off“.





The February 2017 feature photo entitled “Yellow Tulips“ was the cover photo of the Photographic Society of Chattanooga’s monthly newsletter for May 2016.





The January 2017 feature photo is entitled "Chattanooga Riverfront" which won Second Place in the digital division in the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Annual Contest in December 2016. 






The December 2016 feature photo is the cover photo of the Children's Nutrition Program of Haiti Fall 2016 Newsletter. You can view the Newsletter HERE.

The October 2016 feature photo was entitled “Red Trees All in a Row” to celebrate the coming of fall.




The September 2016 feature photo was the cover photo for the latest newsletter published by the Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti. The photo was taken on a recent trip to Leogane, Haiti where the work of identifying malnutrition among young children is performed, as well as teaching mothers how to provide nourishing meals for their children. The August 2016 feature photo was of the Chickamauga Dam and Powerhouse.

The May 2016 feature photo, entitled “Wild Columbine”, shows one view of the many flowers in bloom during this spring.





The April 2016 feature photo, entitled “Remembering Our Heroes”, received an Honorable Mention award during the March 2016 meeting of the Photographic Society of Chattanooga quarterly contest (the theme  was Patterns).






The March 2016 feature photo was in anticipation of spring and is entitled “Green Heron with Chicks”.





The February 2016 feature photo is entitled “Walking Along the Beach in Haiti” which won Third Place in the digital division in the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Annual Contest in December 2015.





The January 2016 feature photo was of a Hispaniola Green Anole Lizard which won Third Place in the print division in the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Annual Contest in December 2015.

The August 2015 feature photo is of the Hunter Museum which is currently on exhibit at the Photographic Society of Chattanooga’s Gallery at Blackwell Automotive on Eastgate Loop. Lynda Edwards of the Times Free Press wrote an article about the photo exhibit which appeared in the June 28th edition of the paper.  The article included this photo as the primary example of the Chattanooga Architecture on exhibit – please click HERE to view the article.  You can also stop by the Blackwell Gallery if you are near Eastgate to see all of the photos on exhibit.







The July 2015 feature photo was a photo taken at the Children’s Nutrition Program of Haiti fundraising benefit in June with Tennessee’s Governor Bill Haslam as the Special Guest. The May 2015 feature photo was entitled “A Gathering of Pelicans”.






The April 2015 feature photo was entitled “Lavender Rhododendron” and welcomes spring.







The March 2015 feature photo was entitled “Just Holdin’ On”.

The December 2014 feature photo was a scene from Reflection Riding this past fall.  






The November 2014 feature photo was the cover photo of the 2015 Calendar and is a Jessica Dahlia.






The October 2014 feature photo is entitled Pink Dogwood.




The September 2014 feature photo is our little dog Frisky at about 9 months old.  He is still full of energy as he is running on one of our walking trails.




The August 2014 feature photo was recently taken at New Covenant Fellowship’s 18 year anniversary celebration including a concert featuring the Wardlaw Brothers.






The July 2014 feature photo is from a recent trip to Burgess Falls in Tennessee.







The June 2014 feature photo celebrated the recent wedding of Henry & Chemere; pray with us for God’s blessings on their marriage.







The May 2014 feature photo was entitled “King” which received an Honorable Mention award from the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Quarterly Contest (Theme: Nature of the Beast) on March 20, 2014.  






The April 2014 feature photo was of Chef Kevelin who recently graduated and is beginning his new career.





The March 2014 feature photo was Frisky, the newest member of our home.  He is enjoying his favorite activity – chewing.







The February 2014 feature photo was taken while Marina and I were walking down a road and found some horses grazing nearby.





The January 2014 feature photo titled "Glowing Golden Crown" received an Honorable Mention award at the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Annual Contest on December 19, 2013.





The December 2013 feature photo was taken of Sandhill Cranes that migrate through our area on their way from northern US to Florida, and will migrate back early next year.





The November 2013  feature photo was the cover photo of our 2014 Calendar and is a scenic view in Haiti.






The October 2013 feature photo was entitled "Determination" and received an Honorable Mention award from the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Quarterly Contest (Theme: Motion) on September 26, 2013.








The September 2013 feature photo was recently taken in the mountains of Leogane, Haiti and shows St. John the Evangelist Church which has been rebuilt over the ruins of the church destroyed by an earthquake in 2010.  This church is in the village of Petit Harpon and also serves as a site of the Children' Nutrition Program of Haiti mobile clinic while plans are being made to have this become a fixed health clinic.








The August 2013 feature photo was a group photo of the Brainerd High School class of 1988, celebrating their 25 year class reunion.






The July 2013 feature photo was a stained glass window at St. Andrews Center in Chattanooga.






The June 2013 feature photo was of azalea flowers from this Spring.




The May 2013 feature photo is of Howard and Santina at their recent wedding.  Please join us in praying to God to bless them in their marriage.





The Arpil 2013 feature photo is a photo entitled "Raccoon Visitor" which received an Honorable Mention award at the Photographic Society of CHattanooga Quarterly Contest (theme: Black and White) on March 21, 2013.




The March 2013 feature photo was a sunset view from Lookout Mountain.





The February 2013 feature photo was a family portrait of the Shepherd family.




The January 2013 feature photo is an interesting photo of lights taken during the holidays.





The December 2012 feature photo depicted the Christmas season - praising and glorifiying God for the gift of Jesus, who came to save us.  We should always welcome Jesus into our homes and lives, and yield ourselves over to Him daily; because Jesus has a love for us which is more than we can ever comprehend.  





The November 2012 feature photo was the cover of our 2013 calendar which featured 13 additional photos of flowers and scripture verses about drawing near to God.






The October 2012 feature photo was a "What Is It?"  This is a Great Blue Heron searching for food.





The September 2012 feature photo was of CeCe Winans who gave a special concert at New Covenant Fellowship Church this summer.  Everyone enjoyed the performance and the message she presented with her music.






The August 2012 feature photo was of fireworks in Chattanooga this summer.  We hope you enjoyed some sights like this also.





The July 2012 feature photo was of Berry and Mary Ayers who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in June.  They had a wonderful celebration of spectacular event.  We will be praying for this Godly couple.



The June 2012 feature photo was a photo of the Super Moon over Chattanooga taken on May 5, 2012.





 The May 2012 feature photo is a night shot of the Delta Queen and Chattanooga,







The April 2012 feature photo was a photo entitled "Ice Dendrites" which received an Honorable Mention award at the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Quarterly Contest (theme: Water) on March 15, 2012. 








The March 2012 feature photo was a daffodil - one of the first flowers to bloom.





 


The February 2012 feature photo is entitled "Silhouette at Dusk".








The January 2012 feature photo was entitled "Dinner In Hand" which won an Honorable Mention award at the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Quarterly Contest (theme: Looking Up) on September 8, 2011.








The December 2011 feature photo is entitled "Robins Flying Above" which won an Honorable Mention award at the Photographic Society of Chattanooga Quarterly Contest (theme: Looking Up) on September 8, 2011.




The November 2011 feature photo was our 2012 calendar cover of sunrises and sunsets. The calendar includes various scriptures of how we should allow God to be in control of our lives and follow the plan He has for us.











The October 2011 feature photo was a friendly lizard in Haiti who liked attention and posing.









The September 2011 feature photo was an interesting photo and is titled "Flaming Rings of Fire".



 




The August 2011 feature photo was entitled "Storms Over Chattanooga" which was taken on April 27 when the devastating storms hit Chattanooga.







The July 2011 feature photo was a swallowtail butterfly confronting a small damselfly on a daylily entitled "This Is My Flower".








The June 2011 feature photo was a recent photo taken at the MYTD (Multi-cultural Youth Training & Development) annual Family Fun Day held at Booker T. Washington State Park. Here you can see the many children, youth, volunteers, parents, and other family members enjoying a game of volleyball. Everyone had an enjoyable day. The May 2011 feature photo was a "What Is It?"




The answer is: a Papaya.






The April 2011 feature photo was entitled White Egrets Performing which won Third Place in the Photographic Society of Chattanooga first Quarterly Photo Contest in March 2011, in the area of nature.







The March 2011 feature photo is Tadazia Sivels in her prom dress from last year. Please take a look at how beautifull she was captured by Russell's photograph.











The February 2011 feature photo was Russell's photo entitled Great Blue Heron With Lunch which won the People's Choice Award for prints at the Photographic Society of Chattanooga's annual contest in December 2010. This photo also won an Honorable Mention as part of the contest.







The January 2011 feature photo was Russell's night photo of the IMAX Theatre which won 2nd Place in News Channel 9's Heroic Drive Photo Contest. He won a copy of their lavishly illustrated, oversized, hard=bound book, "Chattanooga's Heroic Drive - The History of a Renaissance!"











The December 2010 feature photo was a Bode Dahlia which came in second place in the American Dahlia Society National Show held at the Chattanooga Choo on September 23-27.











Our November 2010 feature photo was our 2011 calendar cover of flowers. The calendar includes scripture verses from Chapter Eight of Romans which is filled with blessings, encouragements, and thrilling promises to those who are believers in Jesus Christ.






Our October 2010 feature photo was a "What Is It?" Who is our special friend?





Answer: A praying mantis looking right at you.






Our September 2010 feature photo was called "Tranquility" and hopefully it soothed your thoughts while viewing the beauty of nature.











Our August 2010 feature photo was "Senior Picture of Antwon Kinamore". Antwon is a recent High School graduate - congratulations Antwon!








 Our July 2010 feature was titled "A Busy Mom." How would you like a family this size? This photo is on display at the Blackwell Gallery which is part of Blackwell Automotive on the west side of Eastgate. Please stop by and look at all of the photos being displayed by the Photography Society of Chattanooga members (they are all for sale).











Our June 2010 feature was Russell's night photo of downtown Chattanooga that was chosen to be displayed at Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China. It has been an honor to have these photos being viewed internationally to all of the visitors at the new Wuxi Museum.









Our May 2010 feature was Russell's night photo of the City Pier that highlights the 21st Century Waterfront that was chosen to be displayed at Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China. It is an honor to have these photos being viewed internationally to all of the visitors at the new Wuxi Museum.









 Our April 2010 feature was a photo of a special father and son playing. This photo received an Honorable Mention at the Photographic Society of Chattanooga's annual contest.









Our March 2010 feature was Russell's photo of the Tennessee River Gorge as seen atop Racoon Mountain which was chosen to be displayed at Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China. It is an honor to have these photos viewed internationally to all of the visitors at hte new Wuxi Museum.











Our February 2010 feature was a photo inside Fairyland Caverns at Rock City. This photo was awarded Third Place in the Photographic Society of Chattanooga's quarterly contest with Rock City as the theme.
 




Our January 2010 feature was Russell's night photo of the IMAX Theater that was chosen to be displayed at Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China. It is an honor to have these photos viewed internationally to all the visitors at the New Wuxi Museum.





 The December 2009 feature photo was an Amy K dahlia which won first place at the Dahlia Society of Tennessee (Chattanooga) this past fall.









The November 2009 feature photo was our 2010 calendar cover of animals. The calendar consists of scripture verses from Old Testament prophesies and Christ's fulfillment of these prophesies.
 






Our October 2009 feature was a photo taken at the walking bridge over South Chickamauga Creek near the Tennessee River. About 350 photos were submitted to promote art exchanges between two Sister Cities – Chattanooga and Wuxi, Jiangsu Province China. About 75 were chosen to be sent to Wuxi and five of these were taken by Russell. All of the photos are currently hanging in the new Wuxi Museum. The theme of the exhibit is the amazing Tennessee Valley scenery and the American culture. The featured photo is one of those photos; the others will be featured at later dates. It is an honor to have Russell’s photos being viewed internationally to all of the visitors at the new Wuxi Museum.









Our September 2009 feature was a photo taken for a new book entitled “Marriage on the Rocks” by Gregory Rivers, Ph.D. (please visit his website http://www.gregoryrios.webs.com/ for more details about the book). This photo was posed for the concept by the author and the result compliments the contents of his book.







The feature photo for August 2009 was the 25th Reunion of the Brainerd High School Class of 1984. They are a wonderful group of people and it was great to be a part of this special occasion.







 The feature photo for July 2009 was a "What Is It?"

Our June 2009 feature photo was a senior/graduation photo of our friend Maya. Let's shout a big "Congratulations!" to Maya for her accomplishments, and please continue to keep her in our prayers for her future endeavors.




 The feature photo for May 2009 was dew-drenched bluebell flowers. Spring time is here.







 The feature photo for April 2009 was a Bald Eagle - our country's national bird which is now off of the endangered species list.









 The feature photo for March 2009 was a "What Is It?"




Answer: This is a photo of fall nature colors as reflected in rippling water.

The feature photo for January 2009 recently won second place (amateur division) in the Photographic Society of Chattanooga's annual photo contest.
